As per norm the Men-aces met at Glenburn, approaching in the car one could see an eagerly awaiting sea of red, with beaming smiles and plenty of enthusiasm. The journey down to Liverpool would put Chubby Brown to shame, but once on arrival respect for the team colours was in abundance. The warm Welcome from organizer Steve Swinnerton was met with respectful handshakes and warm smiles. The lads looked the bizz warming up, whilst onlookers looked on admiringly and commented on our status.
After greeting all the other teams, and being introduced to the newly awarded referees (one being very whistle happy) the games got on the way. The Men-aces excitement was present from the onset but they manage to keep their formation and produce some excellent football thus scoring several goals then they relaxed a little and where allowed to enjoy the game and experience good team work. First game ended a startling 10-0, but hearing the other scores they quickly realized they may have a few good games coming up.
The Manager and Coach Mim applauded everyone for volunteering to be sub and being fair on the amount of play each individual was getting, also on the teamanship on trying give everyone the chance to score.
The second game a little harder found the Men-Aces having to rely on their training skills, pass and move, pass and move which allowed them to use the whole of the pitch and take control of the game resulting in 3-0.
All in all after 4 games the Men-aces managed to keep 4 clean sheets and scoring 25 goals coming from, Mark Nelson, Carl Washington, John Duckers, Harry Eaton and Ricki Flynn. Whilst Davie Cunningham got voted man of the matches for his great display of defending, The lads were eager for George to score and were setting him up, but for some reason there seem to be posts every where he shot!
All in all a fantastic display seen Skem Men-aces win the tournament, applause went round for all attended and for Steve Swinnerton who organized this wonderful day. Just like to say a huge well done you have done youselves proud
